ENERGIZING AFRICA 2026: 28, 29, & 30 September 2026

Energizing Africa 2026 marks its 3rd edition.  this international conference and exhibition dedicated to advancing collaboration between Europe and Africa in the field of renewable and sustainable energy. Hosted in Maribor, then Ljubljana, Slovenia, the event serves as a vital platform for fostering dialogue, showcasing innovation, and creating partnerships that drive the transition towards clean energy systems. Building upon the success of the 2024 and 2025 editions, this year’s edition held under the theme “Grid Infrastructure for Greener transition: From Mini-Grids to Regional Power Systems” will tale place in the municipality of Selnica ob Dravi, organized in partnership with the municipality of Selnica Ob Dravi, The Association of Municipalities of Slovenia, Štajerska Chamber of commerce, and other European partners, focuses on How Grid Infrastructures can contribute to a greener transition, and foster cooperation for advancing net-zero, energy access, and sustainable industrial growth through innovation and technology, and a win-win partnership. 

This unprecedented meeting aims to:

  • Create a bridge between African national/local governments and EU municipalities, businesses, and institutions.
  • Understand and articulate the needs of African partners in the green energy and smart city sectors.
  • Present partners capabilities, technologies, and business interests.
  • Explore opportunities through EU cooperation programs, international organisations and specialized financing instruments.
  • Initiate work on a practical guide (manual) for EU and Slovenian companies on how to operate safely and effectively in African markets.
  • Encourage the formation of business consortia capable of offering integrated solutions required by African partners.
  • Strengthen political, economic and people-to-people ties between the regions.

In parallel with the conference, a High-Level Meeting between African Partner Countries and Slovenian Stakeholders on Green Energy Cooperation will be organized, providing an additional opportunity for direct engagement with Slovenian municipalities, companies, financial institutions, and regional partners.
