CREDIT POPULAIRE SA is a 2nd category microfinance institution (EMF), approved in March 2020 by the Ministry of Finance (MINFI) and the Central African Banking Commission (COBAC).

GENESIS

Indeed, created in December 2003 in the form of a Savings and Credit Cooperative Company (ECPC) on Certificate of registration in the COOP-GIC trade register n°LT/CO/28/03/5681 of December 10, 2003, Crédit Populaire has complied with all the reforms of the sector instituted by the public authorities, which earned its approval as a 1st category EMF following the restructuring of the sector, and remains an independent EMF.

YESTERDAY (1st Category Microfinance)

The institution opened its doors on February 14, 2004 following ministerial authorization. It was basically made up of a single agency located in Bonaberi (Douala) at a place called Manbanda, and its main activity was Mobile Savings, also called Daily Collection. It continued to grow after obtaining its MINFI/COBAC approval in August 2006. Classified as a COOP-CA 1st category microfinance establishment , it offers several services to its members.

TODAY (2nd Category Microfinance)

The sustained growth of the establishment over the years has enabled it to obtain, since March 2020, its COBAC / MINFI approval as a 2nd category microfinance establishment under the name CREDIT POPULAIRE SA

To date its network is made up of 13 (thirteen) agencies covering 04 (four) regions (Littoral, Centre, West, North-West) out of 10 (ten), in the main cities of: Douala, Yaoundé, Bafoussam and Bamenda . Its head office is located in Bessenguè-Douala and the General Management is located in AKWA-Douala, 793 Rue Boué de Lapeyrère (Rue Mermoz, opposite the DIKA AKWA palace, behind the BGFT).

In the process of improving the quality of service and its rapprochement with the populations, CREDIT POPULAIRE SA today offers its members two major services: SMS Banking and Mobile Banking .

TOMORROW

CREDIT POPULAIRE SA aims to get closer to the population by covering the entire national territory with points of sale, and by the digitalization of its services by making them accessible through connected equipment.

The Guardian Post

https://theguardianpostcameroon.com/

The Guardian Post, with headquarters at Tam-Tam -Yaounde, has been existing for seventeen uninterrupted years. Created since August 30, 2001, 90% of The Guardian Post staff are former Editorialists, Desk Editors and Reporters of The Herald Newspaper which was the first daily private Newspaper in Cameroon.

With a print-run of 7000 copies, The Guardian Post has an ever-increasing readership; spread in all of the country’s ten regions. The newspapers distribution company does about 25% of our circulation especially in the Francophone towns while the bulk of the Newspaper’s distribution is directly handled by our vibrant Commercial Service.

Our Commercial Service is charged with widely- circulating The Guardian Post in the following towns in the North West Region: Bamenda, Bali, Mbengwi, Ndop, Jakiri, Kumbo, Ndu, Nkambe, Wum and Santa Sub divisions.

In the South West Region, The Guardian Post is widely-distributed in Tiko, Mutengene, Limbe, Buea, Muyuka, Kumba, Tombel and Mamfe in Manyu Division.

It makes meaning to know that Anglophones of all walks of life have easily identified themselves with The Guardian Post not only because it is the lone English Language daily in Cameroon but more so because of the manner in which the Newspaper covers and reports on issues that greatly affect the lives of Anglophones.

Statistics are there to show that The Guardian Post is not only the best-selling English Language Newspaper in Cameroon but is read like a Bible especially in the North West and South West Regions.

Our main subscribers include among others:  Diplomatic Missions in the country, the Presidency of the Republic, the Senate, the National Assembly, and the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Finance, CONAC, FEICOM and a host of other Ministries. The Guardian Post also enjoys a wide-readership; made up of the large Nigerian community in Cameroon, thanks to a regular page it runs on News from Nigeria.

To our advantage is the fact that The Guardian Post is the only English Language Newspaper in Cameroon that runs incisive Editorials on burning issues in all its editions.

We also run several Columns that appeal to all age groups. Women and youths have become fervent readers of The Guardian Post thanks to regular Columns like: Love Stories, Stars Infos, Nollywood News and our Sports Page.

On the other hand, Columns like: Truth That Must Be Told, Point of Order, This My Critical Pen, News Analysis and Wicked Whispers have made The Guardian Post a must-read and keep for posterity Newspaper.

Thanks to the newspaper’s middle-of- the- road and authoritative editorial policy, The Guardian Post is read and held in very high esteem by the Powers that be, Politicians and Members of the Diplomatic Community in Cameroon.

It is equally worth mentioning that The Guardian Post was according to a recent survey carried out by the CRTV and broadcast on its then popular morning programme, Hello, ranked the highest-selling English Language newspaper in Cameroon.

Two renowned English Language media organs, the Bamenda-based weekly Chronicle Newspaper, and The Eye, a widely-visited online publication, also recently honoured The Guardian Post with: “Cameroon’s Best-Selling English Language Newspaper Award.”  On the 24th of January 2020, The Guardian Post officially inaugurated its newly constructed Head Office edifice situated in the Efoulan Lac neighbourhood in Yaounde.
